Uttini! Lego MOC sandcrawler, mech, motorcycle (and a couple'o hot wheels)

I've always found the sandcrawler from SW a fascinating design. Its typical of the ship/vehicles from the OT; the design is unorthodox, looking like its made up of a hodge podge of other vehicle parts, yet still memorable despite being in only a few scenes, iconic even.

I made a 3 stud wide version intially. I did some variations with the elements at the rear and adding cockpit/bridge detail, but i settled for this because of the strong silhouette/profile:

Heres another version, this time 4 stud wide so i can add in the front opening cargo bay and do the tapering front - the previous version lacked these detail with incorrect looking proportions when viewed from the front:

Mechs arent really my thing i.e. i have to use a lot of referencing, but after seeing some great examples on flickr really wanted to take a stab at it. The shoulder and hip joints are made of taps and clamp tiles(?), which gave articulation along 2 axis but are terribly unsturdy.

Table scrap'd a head design and mech walker becomes mech buddy!

Finally found a 3rd build that i liked for my series of motorbike MOCs. Gave up on doing a sportsbike (just couldn't find a technique to solve the fairing) and finally went, duh, why didn't i just do my current favourite type, a naked street fighter. Featuring high, straight bars, twin underseat pipes and short tank, modeled after the ducati monster and triumph triple.

I actually picked these up when i bought MP soundwave. The delorean was miraculously found at retail (the rest is from a specialty store). Love TDKR's the bat; i've a slight disdain of Nolancholia but i love the vehicle designs from his trilogy. I dont even have to explain BAs van - love the A-team. Also, gotta love scooby-doo - despite how old it is, its one of the stuff that my kid enoys with me. Jinkies!

Cubedude 'City Buddies'

Disclaimer: The characters depicted are not related to any historical or fictional figures. Any similaries to persons living or dead are coincidental and unintentional :D

CHICAGO JOE

Joe is a systems admin for a news agency in the windy city. White collar dude with a blue collar attitude, Joe enjoys participating in online communities; he mods a collectible toy forum and runs a podcast with buddies on twitter. He's also a foodie - but with the variety of stuff he's into he's constantly playing catch up with a backlog of games, toys and DVDs.

ATLANTA MIKE

With a taste for hip hop culture, Mike (shown here with a box of fresh kicks) shares the same name as his sports idol, Michael Jordan and can be counted on rocking the latest sneakers in the rarest colorways. He may be a sneaker fiend but he's no shoe snob; he's got Puma Clydes for training at the dojo and Adidas Superstar for the club - he just can't help it if he's genuinely allergic to Reebok.

DETROIT CARLOS

Carlos works at an assembly plant located at the outskirt of town. A big guy with an even bigger heart, Carlos has a thing for chocolate and is a Batman fan. You'd think the 2 are unrelated but if he ever hits the lottery that first cheque will be going to a repro 60s styled batmobile, with the second cheque to a customizer to fit out the dashboard with built in hershey kisses dispenser.

THE HOBBYIST

The Hobbyist, shown here with a toy sandcrawler, is a designer working in KL. A geeky fanboy - growing up in the eighties he's a fan of star wars and transformers - The Hobbyist drinks too much coffee and reads mostly comics. Spending a lot of time on the net, The Hobbyist blows disposeable income on toys (to the chagrin of his wife) which he blogs about at plastikjaya dot blogspot dot HEEEYYYYY

More Lego Mini Scale Star Wars, MOC Speeder Bike

Got around to adding pieces to my growing mini scale SW lego collection, acquired a few brickmaster sets thanks to amazon.com. Slave 1 and the imperial shuttle scales nicely with midi scale falcon (along with an at-at and a tie fighter).

Wasnt interested in the recent desert skiff set (even with the new version of boba fett minifig) but found a MOC online of a speeder bike built entirely from the set - in a film that features the falcon escaping the death star and the final duel between luke and vader, the endor chase scene remains my favourite thing from ROTJ. The original MOC is by brix from the eurobricks forum, heres my slightly modified take on it.

The build turned out surprisingly large (slightly more than a feet), heres 9" spidey from hasbro's signature series to show the scale.

"Its your friendly neighbourhood scout trooper!"

The minifigs that come with the set are pretty decent on their own. Even when i already have a ROTJ luke (from the death star set) and keychain boba, think i'll keep 'em.

Lego MOCs: motorcycles, pachyderm...and poop!

I've ridden a variety of bikes so i generally appreciate all sorts of type and make. But i have a jones for the ducati sportclassic series (as seen in tron legacy), here's a cafer racer based on the SC1000 monoposto.

My brothers on the other hand are supermoto enthusiast; one rides a WR450 (previously a KLX250), the other rides a dorsoduro 1200. Heres a supermotard in kawasaki colors: go team green!
